The Ax Wound Film Festival continues to foster a community of fans and female-identified filmmakers in the horror genre for its fourth year running on Friday evening, November 9th and all-day Saturday, November 10th 2018 at the Hooker-Dunham Theater & Gallery in downtown Brattleboro, Vermont. Recently named one of MovieMaker magazine’s 30 Bloody Best Genre Fests in the World, Ax Wound Film Festival’s expanding mission includes becoming an event that promises opportunities for professional connections amongst all filmmakers and additional creatives in order to shatter the glass ceiling of gender inequality in the film industry, starting with each other.
This year is packed with a wicked variety of international film selections from both first-time directors such as American Mary actress Tristian Risk bringing to life a séance with a darkly quirky family in PARLOUR TRICKS and award-winning, fresh voices like Kyra Gardner, back at Ax Wound with her latest zombie comedy, INKED. Director and screenwriter Mitzi Peirone’s 2018 Tribeca Film Festival Midnight selection and much buzzed about, BRAID is Ax Wound’s feature film to cap off the event and what I describe as a “whimsically insane journey of madness and unnerving violence”. We’re excited about each filmmaker’s stories that bring humor, awareness, and entertainment to their artistic expressions, offering horror some of its most original and darkest work to date.
