Over the years, Wesley Snipes has repeatedly expressed interest in reprising the role of vampire-slayer Blade, which he first played back in 1998. In other words, Snipes was kicking ass as Blade long before superhero movies became Hollywood’s top commodity, but the fan-favorite character has yet to be introduced into Marvel’s more recent cinematic universe.

That could be changing, however, as We Got This Covered reports this week that “Marvel is currently planning an R-rated Blade movie,” with Snipes expected to be involved.

Mind you, this one is a rumor at this time, but it does line up with recent comments made by both Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige and by Snipes himself.

“There are a lot of conversations going around right now and we’re very blessed to have the enthusiasm and interest in something coming from that world again,” Snipes told Vice last year. “We’ve created two projects that fit perfectly into this world and, when people see them, I think they’re only going to have a problem with deciding which one they love the most.”
