The Twilight Zone has been regarded as one of the most influential television series on American television of all time. It’s introduction of science fiction and fantasy storylines motivated a generation of creators and future filmmakers to make countless works. But what people don’t remember is how the show was not as popular with critics or audiences. Hopefully history won’t repeat itself and people will gravitate to it again. In the first episode, Kumail Nanjiani stars as a comedian who will do anything for fame, ANYTHING. The episode brings back that classic Twilight Zone element of morality. The original show’s episodes never were about space travel or alien invasions or psychic children, they were always about the choices that people make and the ramifications of those decisions. The new show looks like an antidote to the nihilistic views of Black Mirror with a dash of relevant social issues.
