I’m not alone in saying that the Addams Family from the 90’s is probably one of my favorite movies ever and the sequel Addams Family Values is one of the few sequels that is almost better than the first.
Some 20 years later and we are still making and sharing memes about the family. I aspired to find someone that would love me like how Gomez loves Morticia, ardently, obsessively and loyally. It hasn’t worked out for me but I’ve seen it work out for others. I’ve even seen the Broadway play. I stan.
Cut to 2019 and we now have the trailer for the new animated movie. I’m not the biggest fan of this 3-d animated style, it reminds me of cheap, patronizing Dreamworks movies. But I do love that they characters are modeled off of the original Charles Addams’ comics that were published in the New Yorker. That way they circumvent the outright comparison to the original movie, even though comparison will be unavoidable. The film’s voice cast is an amazing featuring Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, and Allison Janney.
